Anglia Ruskin University Open Day 35 Access learners and 3 of the Access teaching team attended the Access Students Higher Education Information Day held at Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford campus on Friday 6th November 2009. This trip was funded by Aim Higher. The following quotes are from some of our learners: JADE: "I thought the open day at Anglia Ruskin was really good I didn't think of going there until I went for that open day. I went to the nurses talk which was very helpful and gave me alot of information about the course and what to expect. My overall opinion on the whole is it was very good.”“The visit was brilliant and so were the ambassadors (I think Mary was the name of our one). Just generally good but wouldn't have any suggestions to make it better or different.”“I loved the trip and it has convinced me to apply this year instead of deferring, so I found it very productive." NICOLA: "Very well organised, with much consideration of the needs of prospective students. The day in Chelmsford gave me the confidence to apply as a mature student and to book a smaller group for the Cambridge Access day. The opportunity to talk to a lecturer in our chosen subject at Cambridge was invaluable. As a direct result of talking to Dr Rachel Cook I will definitely be applying to Cambridge ARU to study Psychology and Health Psychology!" “The Chelmsford visit was useful in terms of seeing what university life is all about. The talks we had were useful. The Cambridge visit was more useful as it is my first choice destination. Most of the talks were patently exactly the same as at Chelmsford. Being able to talk to a lecturer in my chosen subject was very illuminating and convinced me that I have chosen the right path.” “I found the visits important, as it allows you to get an experience of the travel times and congestions which you may face if you decide to continue to study and complete a degree course. All specific sessions i.e. midwifery, biomedical science and forensic sciences were very useful and provided a reasonable insight as to how life at university would be.”
