First Diploma in Health & Social Care (Level 2)

This course provides an introduction to Health and Social Care and gives a basis for progressing to more advanced work-related qualifications.

It is a practical work-related course which is equivalent to 4 GCSE Grades A*- C, that introduces you to the employment area you have chosen. A range of study modules are included in this course, such as: Communication and Individual Rights; Individual Needs; Culture and Therapeutic Activities in Health and Social Care. Three further units will be offered from a selection.

As well as the usual entry requirements you will need a Grade C in English Language, or a Merit or Distinction in the Foundation Award in Caring for Children or similar. After successful completion you can progress onto the National Diploma in Health & Social Care. You may decide to go straight into employment involving caring for children, or go onto higher level training and professional study within the caring professions such as social work, nursing or teaching.
