National Award/Certificate/Diploma in Health & Social Care (Level 3)

This course is designed to provide a broad educational basis for further training, further education or for moving into employment within the health and social care sector. It offers work experience linked to your specific area of interest. The National Award is equivalent to one A2 taken over a year, whilst the National Diploma is equivalent to three A2 courses taken over two years. In the first year learners must pass the Award.

You will study the key aspects of Health & Social Care including: Equality, Service Provision, Research Methodology, Lifespan Development and Caring for Children and Young People. You will be expected to complete projects, essays, practical experiments and activities as well as keeping a diary of your work experience. You will need 4 GCSEs at grade C or above including English Language or a Merit grade or above from a Level 2 vocational course in a related subject.

This course provides opportunities for entry into nursing, social work, midwifery and many of the related professions. Many learners do move onto employment such as working in hospitals, registered care homes and primary care trusts.
