Getting on the right course

As well as choosing your subject, you need to be sure you start on the right level of course. Your level will depend on your GCSE results, how many you achieve and at what grades.

We aim to make sure you’re on the right course so you have the best chance of success.

Entry Requirements

Entry requirements will vary from course to course, so make sure you understand these (use the link below).

About our Vocational Courses

If you know the profession or trade you want to work in, a vocational course is ideal. You combine practical skills with theory and work towards nationally recognised qualifications including BTEC Diplomas, NVQs and City & Guilds. You can progress through the levels – and even use your vocational qualifications as a route to university (lots of our students do!). The choice of how far you go is yours. It’s worth noting we have some excellent partnerships with local industries and businesses that support our vocational courses.

About our Sixth Form Centre

The West Essex Sixth Form specialises in offering a wide range of A Levels plus BTEC Science qualifications. Our aim is to support you in achieving the very best grades and in developing their personal and academic skills in preparation for Higher Education and employment.

You get to study your chosen subjects in detail, with a focus on traditional study skills. You choose from a wide range of academic subjects, as well as some work related subjects. A Levels are the traditional (but not only) route to university. Our A Level students progress to a wide range of universities (including Oxbridge) to study many different subjects from Medicine to Film Production.

About our Apprenticeships

If you’re raring to get out to work, and have an employer who will support you, you could find yourself in College once a week, or coming in for blocks of study. This really is a very flexible way to earn and learn. Again, you can progress through to university, or you could find yourself in a well-paid job once you're qualified. There are a wide range of apprenticeship opportunities – this could be the option for you.
