What Happens Next?

Interview

The interview is the next important step. We all need to be sure that Harlow College is right for you.
Once we have your application and the information from your last school or college we'll invite you for interview.

We invite you to bring your parents/carers along so that we can explore all your options and find the course that suits you best. The interview will be with a tutor from the course area and will last about 20 minutes. You’re encouraged to ask us as many questions as you like, so come prepared.

Helpful hints:

  • Make sure you arrive in plenty of time
  • Dress smartly (suits are not necessary!) Bring anything you may have been asked to in your interview invite letter (e.g. Art portfolio)
  • Prepare some questions and answers (we will ask you lots of questions) for example:
    - Why do you want to do the course?
    - What career aspirations do you have?
    - What prior knowledge of the subject do you have?
  • Try to be relaxed, and show us you at your best! We want you to succeed!

We'll make you a conditional offer at the interview (in some cases we may suggest you attend a 'taster' with the college before we make the offer).

Keeping in Touch

There are several events to attend before you enrol, including New Student and Parent Day and Taster Days for those of you who haven't previously attended one. We'll write to you to let you know about these. We will also send you information about some of the things you might need for your course, such as equipment and uniforms etc.

Enrolment

Enrolment (when you bring in your exam results and confirm your course) happens at the end of August/beginning of September. This is when you'll receive more detailed course information, such as timetables.
