Advice & Guidance
Well qualified and experienced staff, based in Student Services from Monday to Friday, offering help for whole classes and on a one-to-one basis. Just drop in or make an appointment. From September 2011 we are open 8am-6pm (9am-5pm during holidays). To contact the Guidance Centre telephone 01279 868139 or send us a message.
Individual help for students
- The opportunity to call in and get information and advice as and when required
- Help with University applications and student finance
- Access to a wide range of careers materials and information
- One-to-one careers guidance interviews
- Internet linked PCs with a range of software to help you make career decisions and research your options
- Assistance with job search, writing CVs and application forms etc.

- Careers advice for adults
- Pre-enrolment transition activities programme ("RAP")
Help for parents
- Parents and carers are welcome to visit the Guidance Centre where support and advice is available
- Information on the university application process and the funding available is given on specially arranged evening sessions for parents
Help for whole classes
- A comprehensive Careers Education programme delivered through the tutorial system
- Group sessions covering a wide range of topics including ‘How to use the Guidance Centre’, researching university courses and applying to Higher Education, student finance, interview skills, producing a CV and preparation for the world of work
Career events
- The Guidance Centre organise a range of events throughout the year including presentations by local companies and day trips to universities
- Access to job vacancies and help with CVs, application forms and interviews
