Funding Your Course

If you're aged 19 or over (24 or over if your course begins before 1 August 2016) and you want to study A Levels, an Access to Higher Education Diploma, or a Level 3 to 6 (Level 3 or 4 only if your course begins before 1 August 2016) Vocational Qualification, you could be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan.

Don't have the qualifications needed for university? Here's your chance. If you're an adult learner an Access course gives you the opportunity to get the qualifications you need to get back to work, start a new career or update your study experience. All our Access courses are taught at University Centre Harlow. Many of our Access students are now pursuing new careers and making changes to their lives they never thought possible.

Access to Higher Education Diploma – Business

This course will help you understand the business environment and the skills, knowledge and understanding needed for you to progress further in the business world. Whenever possible term dates are in line with those of the Essex schools. We understand that many of our students have family commitments.

Mature students are valued for their life experiences, and an increasing number are entering higher education each year. Many are now pursuing new careers and seeing changes in their lives that they never thought possible.

Access to Higher Education Diploma – Business – Flexible Learning

A new flexible approach to learning. Start in the New Year and you could be starting university the following year! Blended learning suits your lifestyle – it's a mixture of attending College (monthly Saturdays and evenings, for individual support), online learning via our Virtual Learning Environment, support via email and telephone, plus one-to-one tutorials.

This Engineering, Science and Maths pathway provides a wide knowledge and understanding of the underpinning skills and knowledge required within the Engineering sector. It will prepare you for study on any Engineering related university course.

Access to Higher Education Diploma – Health and Social Care

This course is for those who do not have the relevant experience or qualifications to progress to university. It will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in a career in Health and Social Care. You will learn and apply the theoretical and practical knowledge required for working the Health and Care field. Many of our former students are now pursuing new careers and seeing changes in their lives they never thought possible.

Access to Higher Education Diploma – Life Science

The Life Science pathway will show you that biology is both exciting and very relevant to our daily lives. The programme begins by helping you to understand the basic concepts of biology. You will learn about health and disease through existing medical research and in Term 2 you will carry out your own investigation in the laboratory. Alongside this you will learn core skills in IT, presentation and communication. This programme is challenging but also fun and extremely interesting too!

Access to Higher Education Diploma – Medicine (Subject to Validation)

Our Access to Higher Education in Medicine is designed for adults who, for one reason or another, have not had the opportunity to study towards a degree or diploma, or have achieved in other areas and now wish to retrain to become a doctor.

Access to Higher Education Diploma – Nursing and Midwifery

Get on the fast track to a professional career in Midwifery or Nursing. If you want to go to university but don't yet have the necessary qualifications this course is for you. For adults who want a career in Nursing and Midwifery.

Access to Higher Education Diploma – Social Science

This course will focus on sociology, which is the study of human behaviour. You will begin to ask questions such as: 'Why are human beings different from each other?' You will explore the answers by studying topics such as, Changing Family Patterns, Crime and Deviance, The Sociology of the Media and Social Policy.
