Access to Higher Education Diploma – Engineering, Science and Maths

This Engineering, Science and Maths pathway provides a wide knowledge and understanding of the underpinning skills and knowledge required within the Engineering sector. It will prepare you for study on any Engineering related university course.

Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Work Readiness

Talented engineers, technicians and managers are vital to the future success of the engineering and advanced manufacturing sectors – and the opportunities are huge. This course will give you a solid foundation in the hands-on skills that employers say are vital to keep these industries running successfully - skills that you will have for life!

Aerospace Engineering Work Readiness

There is a huge demand for professional engineers and aircraft engineers in particular. Harlow College is now offering this course as a pathway into the aerospace industry. On completion of the course successful students will be eligible to either progress on to further education programmes or apply for industry apprenticeship schemes in the civil and military sectors to train as a Licensed Aircraft Engineer.

Engineering Apprenticeship

If you're keen to earn while you learn an apprenticeship is for you. The apprenticeship in Engineering is designed to meet the skills needs of employers. Apprenticeships are offered at Intermediate, Advanced and Higher level. Each level is designed to enable you to gain technical knowledge and real practical experience, along with functional and interpersonal skills. You'll learn these through a mix of learning in the workplace, formal off the job training and the opportunity to practice and embed new skills in a real work situation. As an apprentice at Harlow College you could be earning £12,156 to £18,000 a year.

Engineering Extended Diploma

This course provides you with a theoretical grounding in engineering and will give you a broad understanding of the huge possibilities within the engineering industry. It allows you to move on to higher education or to an advanced apprenticeship where you can further specialise.

Engineering HNC/D

This course provides an extensive knowledge and skills in engineering with specialist units available in Advanced Manufacturing and Automated Systems. You will be studying in the new (£11m) state-of-the-art Harlow Advanced Manufacturing Centre (HAMEC) equipped with over £2m worth of industry standard machinery and equipment. There is a huge demand for qualified engineers locally, nationally and internationally. We work closely with industry to ensure our courses meet the requirements of employers.

Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Apprenticeship

An Apprenticeship in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair will give you the opportunity to work for an employer, earn a salary and at the same time study to gain a nationally recognised qualification whilst gaining valuable workplace skills and experience. You will learn all aspects of the industry while maintaining effective working relationships with customers and colleagues.

Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Apprenticeship

An Apprenticeship in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair will give you the opportunity to work for an employer, earn a salary and at the same time study to gain a nationally recognised qualification whilst gaining valuable workplace skills and experience. You will learn all aspects of the industry while maintaining effective working relationships with customers and colleagues.

Motor Vehicle Level 1

This course is suitable for anyone interested in working in the vehicle repair/maintenance industry. It is designed to maximise opportunities for progression onto an apprenticeship programme where you can work towards becoming a fully qualified Motor Vehicle specialist.

Motor Vehicle Level 2

This qualification will give you a good foundation of knowledge on the motor vehicle and its sub-systems. The practical assignments will allow you to practise and experience the maintenance activities associated with the service of light vehicles.

Operations Maintenance Work Readiness

As the technology in manufacturing and aerospace changes it needs people with skills in maintenance operations to keep all that advanced machinery running. On this course you will learn how things work and what to do to keep them working, using diagnostics, fault finding and maintenance procedures to keep equipment and parts in optimum condition.
