Caring For Children Diploma

This course provides an introduction to the development of babies and young children. You will gain basic knowledge of the social, physical, emotional, intellectual and social skills of babies and children. You will laso gain practical experience within the College's Stay & Play facility and of working with virtual babies.

Childcare & Education Diploma

This course will give you extensive knowledge of the development of babies and young children. You will gain an understanding of the stages and sequences of brain development, physical development and social skills. Most significantly, you will gain professional status enabling you to work with children or progress to university for an Early Years Degree,Teaching Degree or a Degree in Childhood Studies. The course can also lead to an alternative career in areas such as nursery or primary school teacher or childminder.

Childcare & Education – Introduction

This course will provide you with a good knowledge of the development of babies and young children. You will gain an understanding of the stages and sequences of brain development, physical development and social skills. There is an opportunity to progress onto Level 3, (with the relevant GCSE's) or work as an assistant within a nursery setting.

Children and Young People's Workforce Apprenticeship

Build the knowledge and skills you'll need to work with children and young people. This course pepares you for a diverse range of roles working in children's environments, including early years and social care. It's suitable for anyone who wants to work in a supervised role in the children and young people's workforce in England.

This workforce makes up around 10% of the labour market in England. A large number work in the public sector, including in schools, colleges, local authorities and the NHS. Many work in the private sector – particularly in early years, but there are private providers in all areas of services to children and young people.

Early Childhood Professional Studies BA (Hons) (Top-up)

Our exciting new Honours degree has been specially designed to meet the demands of employers in the Early Years sector, as well as the current criteria for Early Years Professional Status (EYPS), and Common Core of Knowledge and Skills for Early Years Workforce, as issued by the Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) - the sector's PSRB. This course gives you the unique opportunity to study early childhood as an academic subject and also develop your professional portfolio by engaging with Early Years practice. Students who have successfully completed a Foundation Degree in Early Years (or an equivalent qualification) complete Year 3 of the BA (Honours) course.

Early Years Educator Apprenticeship

Do you enjoy working with young people and have a caring and patient nature? A career in childcare care could be perfect for you. Doing an Early Years apprenticeship will allow you to gain the skills you'll need to work in this dynamic industry. You'll learn how to work with children of different ages, educate and care for children and ultimately how to excel in your Early Years career.

Health & Social Care Apprenticeship

If you're new to adult social care, then an Apprenticeship is one of the best ways to get into the sector. You'll work alongside experienced staff and learn the skills and knowledge for you to be a skilled and confident worker. Apprenticeships can also help those working in adult social care to formalise their knowledge and progress their career. At the end of your Apprenticeship you'll have gained both experience and qualifications.

Health & Social Care Certificate

This course is suitable for those who have no previous experience in health and social care but wish to pursue a career in this sector. The course is assignment based, with a minimum of 60 hours of work experience. Those who only need to do one GCSE resit will also do half a day a week volunteering, which will enhance their employability on completion of the programme.

Health & Social Care Diploma

This two year course is designed to provide a broad educational basis for further training, further education or for moving into employment within the health and social care sector. It offers 100-200 hours of work experience linked to students' specific area of interest.

Health & Social Care Extended Diploma

This course provides thorough training for those wishing to work in care homes and in a social care settings (e.g. hospices, care homes for the elderly or for people with disabilities or mental illness). You will undertake part of your course in college and part in training placements in the community so that you gain experience of working in a variety of health and social care settings. This enables you to gain practical, hands on training.

This qualification provides a suitable way to meet the development and qualification needs of a variety of roles and job titles, including Health & Social Care assistants. On completion of the level 2 Diploma can lead to promotion as Senior carer.

Health & Social Care Level 3 Diploma

It's about supporting them to maintain their independence, dignity and control. Social Care is the term given to a wide range of care and support for people with assessed needs. This qualification provides a suitable way to meet the development and qualification needs of a variety of roles and job titles, including Care workers, Care Supervisors, Senior Care Workers or Supervising Care Workers, Senior Support Workers, Relief Team Leaders, Outreach Development Workers. Achievement of the level 3 Diploma can lead to promotion as Senior carer, or progression to university to become a midwife, General Nursing, Learning Disability Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, paramedic, Social Worker.

Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship will help you understand the education sector and the skills, knowledge and understanding you need to be an effective classroom assistant. It will also help you to progress further in teaching. Whenever possible term dates are in line with those of the Essex schools. We understand that many of our students have family commitments.
