This high-quality programme of engineering training is designed for talented apprentices who have completed an advanced level apprenticeship, or hold equivalent qualifications. You’ll work towards achieving engineering technician or incorporated engineer status in your field of specialisation. You’ll learn advanced skills and complete a Level 4 NVQ in engineering leadership. You’ll also take a relevant Higher National Certificate and Higher National Diploma, which could lead to progression to an honours degree in engineering technology. You’ll also learn how to write reports, use IT and work effectively in a team.

This course is currently being run at our Harlow College campus.

Am I ready to start?

The programme is designed for talented apprentices who have completed an advanced level apprenticeship, or hold equivalent qualifications.

What does the course involve?

This is a higher apprenticeship. You can train in roles like:

  • electrical or electronic engineer
  • software engineer
  • systems engineer
  • systems operations engineer
  • aircraft systems development technician
  • manufacturing engineer
  • quality engineer
  • design engineer

After successful completion of this higher apprenticeship you'll be in a good position to progress on to chartered engineer status or higher-level work.

This course will be delivered in our new state-of-the-art Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering Centre.

An apprenticeship comprises two parts:

  • Typically 20% study element (at Harlow College or Stansted Airport College).
  • 80% work based element with an employer. It is your responsibility to find an employer.
