Prince’s Trust Assistant Team Leader

The Prince’s Trust is the UK’s leading youth charity offering 14 - 30 year olds opportunities to develop confidence, learn new skills, get into work and start businesses. It aims to help young people who would not otherwise have the opportunity to succeed - particularly focusing on those who are unemployed, educational underachievers, within or leaving the criminal justice system or leaving care.

The Prince’s Trust Team Programme is a 12-week personal development course of up to 15 young people aged between 16 and 25 years old who take part in a challenging and action-packed 12-week programme. The young people are from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. This team ‘mix’ is a unique ingredient which contributes to the development of all Team members. The Team develops confidence, motivation and skills and offers young people the opportunity to gain qualifications. The aim is to help young people move into employment, education or training.

Harlow College is looking to recruit an Assistant Team Leader to assist the Prince’s Trust Team Leader to deliver a personal development programme aimed at helping young people towards employment, further learning and career aims in Harlow.

Details of the role

The Assistant Team Leader supports the Team Leader with the management and running of the Team Programme. You will be required to assist the Team Leader in the recruitment process of the Team and oversee the running of the 12-week programme where necessary. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact on a personal basis with individuals aged 16-25 years.

The main tasks are to:

  1. To assist the Team Leader to deliver the required number of Teams, ensuring delivery complies with the structured 12-week stages and processes outlined in the Team Toolkit, the Team minimum quality standards, all assessment criteria and any additional contractual obligations

 

  1. Support the recruitment of a range of young people across target groups to achieve appropriate Team mix.  Ensure appropriate young people are referred to the Team within agreed timeframes

 

  1. Work with the Team Leader to progress young people through the programme in line with local budgets, achieving a range of KPI targets including the number of young people recruited; their retention on the programme; and the qualifications and positive outcomes achieved

 

  1. Assist in gathering information required for end of Team reports after each programme
     
  2. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, paper and electronic, as required by Harlow College, The Trust or external funding contracts and in line with our GDPR policy

 

  1. Implement action plans to address issues identified in the Team Review, Annual Quality Review and other Quality Assurance processes as outlined in the Toolkit

 

  1. Carry out other Team-related duties as may reasonably be required by the AAM, including deputising as appropriate on activities relevant to area of responsibility

Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following skills and characteristics:

  • Be able to build rapport and empathy with young people from a range of backgrounds
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team, particularly in partnership with a Team Leader
  • The ability to work on own initiative, with the ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload
  • Organisational skills and self-motivation
  • Willingness to take responsibility
  • Good administrative and record keeping skills
  • Ability to identify suitable projects, placements and challenges

21st  June 2021 to 20th July 2021

Payment:                 Weeks 1-10: £8.91 per hour payable on salary claim form.

                                   Statutory Holiday entitlement.
