Overview

An Events Assistant is an entry level position, typically working within a team of people in an events company or within the events department of a larger organisation. This course involves the development and demonstration of skills and knowledge across 3 broad areas: operational, professional and commercial.

Am I ready to start?

Previously experience is not usually required. Minimum of level 2 maths and English. Note: Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve these prior to taking the end point assessment. Interview and references required.

What does the course involve?

You will also be required to demonstrate 9 key behaviours which include, enthusiasm, remaining calm under pressure, strong attention to detail, respect for others and flexibility.

The role will usually involve providing support to a number of event planners or project managers by carrying out a diverse range of tasks necessary to plan, organise and deliver an event. Around 75% of events are conferences, meetings, trade shows and exhibitions. Other events include outdoor events, cultural events, sporting and music events. As well as holding events in the UK, events agencies and events departments organise events in different countries around the world.

We currently work closely with a number of companies to ensure learners are developing the skills they require to successfully progress into work with a reputable business. You could be running events for international flagship brands such as Novotel and Hampton by Hilton.

Down to business, what can I do and what can I earn?

With experience and a good track record, you could run events that have larger budgets and even progress into management.

You could be working as an Events Manager, where you will be responsible for overseeing projects from planning of an event through to the running of the event on the day. You could also work freelance or set up your own events management business.
