12 months – 1 day a week at College and 4 Days a week in the workplace
Hospitality supervisors work across a wide variety of businesses including bars, restaurants, cafés, conference centres, banqueting venues, hotels or contract caterers. They provide vital support to management teams and are capable of independently supervising hospitality services and running shifts. They typically work under pressure delivering fantastic customer service and motivating a team is essential to their role. The majority of supervisors’ skills and knowledge are the same but supervisors may specialise in specific functions or work across a variety of functions which reflect the multi-functional nature of the industry.
Am I ready to start?
Ideally you will have a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grades 2-9 (previously A*-E)
You will also have worked in an operational role within the industry.
How does an Apprenticeship Work?
Apprenticeship Standards are assessed through independent end point assessors. Your role as an apprentice may vary depending on your employer. Learners that have not yet achieved a minimum of grade 4 or C in GCSE English or Maths will be required to complete a Level 2 functional skill qualification prior to taking the end point assessment.
What does the course involve?
All Hospitality Supervisors will be required to demonstrate knowledge, skills and behaviours across 4 key areas. These include:
Apprentices will select one of 7 Specialist functions relevant to their role, these include:
- Food and Beverage Supervisor
- Bar Supervisor
- Housekeeping Supervisor
- Concierge Supervisor
- Events Supervisor
- Hospitality Outlet Supervisor
The End Point Assessment will test the entire Standard, and will comprise of: Knowledge test, practical observation, business project and a professional discussion.
This qualification is graded Pass/ Distinction/Fail
Down to business, what can I do and what can I earn?
On completion, apprentices may progress to the Level 4 Hospitality Manager Standard. Individuals could also progress into a Hospitality Management position.
Stansted Airport and its business partners offer many exciting career opportunities and this qualification will enable you to progress into a first line management role within the hospitality sector. You could be working within a multinational hotel, a VIP lounge at the airport or even a highly reputable restaurant or food outlet.
