    About the course

    This course is designed as a practical work-related course. You will be required to come into the College for taught theory sessions. An assessor will visit you in the workplace to observe practical activities. You will need to be working in an environment which will enable you collect the required evidence. Tasks undertaken by apprentices will vary depending on the level and sector in which they are employed. Tasks may include producing documents, preparing notes, organising and co-ordinating events and meetings, developing and delivering presentations, providing reception services, using office equipment, setting up and maintaining filing systems, using a variety of software packages, updating information and managing projects.

    Entry requirements

    You must be in a workplace which will enable you to gather the required evidence. You must also be at least 16 years of age with no upper age limit.

    How much does it cost?

    Age 16-18 free. 19+ will require an employer's contribution. There is a range of financial support that you may be entitled to, including: Learner Support funds, grants and bursaries and employer support.

    Who is it suitable for?

    Anyone who is in a work situation and wishes to gain a relevant work-related qualification in business and administration.

    Why study?

    Administrators need a broad range of skills to work efficiently and to help increase business productivity. Skills shortages identified by organisations include a lack of office and administration skills, customer-handling skills, technical and practical skills, oral communication skills and IT skills, all of which are covered within the Business & Administration Apprenticeship framework

    Where will this course take me?

    Progression to the NVQ Level 3 in Business and Administration or an Apprenticeship in Business Administration.

    How will I be assessed?

    Assessed by a designated expert who will carry out task observations and visit you regularly at work. You will be required to produce an NVQ portfolio recording all tasks completed which will be assessed. Projects, assignments and portfolio of evidence.

    Will I have to provide anything?

    You will need to provide stationary, folder, text book and a USB memory stick.
