About the course
This qualification supports learners embarking on their first experience of work in the Health, Adult Care and Child Care sectors - as part of a work placement, work experience or in supporting the unemployed in their return to work.
This qualification is for learners wishing to gain an understanding of the Health, Adult Care and Child Care sectors alongside gaining essential employability knowledge and skills. On completion learners will be able to understand and demonstrate suitable work, personal skills, attitudes, thinking and behaviour and will be more confident at interview, when completing an application or on their first day working in the Health, Adult Care and Child Care sectors.
The course runs for 5 days per week, 09:30-15:00

Who is it suitable for?
The course is suitable for anyone aged 19+ who is in receipt of benefits and has an interest in working in the health and social care sector.

Core modules
The course qualification completed for this programme is the L1 Certificate in Skills for Working in Adult, Health and Child Care Sectors. The main units that you will complete include:
- Introduction to working in healthcare, adult care and child care
- Effective communication
- Introduction to working in a person-centred way in health and adult care
- Introduction to safeguarding in health, adult care and child care
- Introduction to health and safety awareness in the workplace
- Awareness of equality and diversity
- Understanding conflict at work
- Interview skills
- Applying for a job
- Developing personal confidence
In addition to the above qualification learners will also complete the following:
- L1 Award in Infection Control and Prevention
- E3 Read for Information
- E3 Making Calculations
- Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is through the completion of workbooks, group activities and role plays/demonstrations.
You will receive daily feedback on the course from your Tutor as well as regular written feedback
Will I have to provide anything?
For the virtual classroom learners will need a desktop, laptop or tablet with a camera and microphone.
