About the course
This is an introductory course aiming to prepare students for future paid employment, developing working skills and independent living and working towards a Supported Internship. It aims to build up students' confidence and abilities to continue their training towards a professional life. The course leads to the Supported Internship study programme, where our learners can experience work in real employment roles within the community while benefiting from a high level of support. Larners have the opportunity to work towards completing their English and Maths qualifications, as well as learning general English and Maths skills connected to workplaces through a wide variety of activities and projects.
Completion of Towards Independence and Work
Our programmes run around a different projects, this will develop your skills working independently and working as part of a team.
Working on confidence and skills required for work.
Projects based within the local community to develop inter personal skills, confidence and face-to-face communication.
Sport & wellbeing
Students will partake in overall fitness and wellbeing each week.
English/Maths & ICT
Skills will be developed through projects and the opportunity to take qualifications will be available.
You will also learn the importance of healthy eating and how to develop cooking skills.
Additional opportunities include:
- Employment and enterprise workshops
- Confidence building and team building activities
- Work-related visits
- Guest speakers from MIND and other supportive organisations within the SEN community
How will I be assessed?
RARPA Qualification (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement). This qualification is based on criteria linked to Preparing for Adulthood:
