    About the course

    Health and social care is about supporting and caring for those of all ages. A job in this sector is demanding and challenging but also very rewarding.

    This course offers four units that enable learners to gain an insight into the sector. It is suitable for those who have no previous experience in health and social care but may wish to peruse a career in this sector. This course is assignment based, with a minimum of 60 hours of work experience. Those who only need to do one GCSE, will complete half a day a week, volunteering. This will enhance their employability on completion of the programme.

    This course offers the first step into a career in health and social care and could also lead to the T level 3 course, if the criteria is met. 

    Entry requirements

    4 GCSE grade 2 and above / level 2 BTEc / OCR 

    How much does it cost?

    Free to those aged 16-18. If you are aged 19+ you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

    There is a range of financial support that you may be entitled to, including: Learner Support funds, grants and bursaries and employer support.

    Guest speakers include Industry specialists, nurses, midwifes and healthcare assistants.


    Where will this course take me?

    You may progress onto level 3 OCR or T level or employment in health settings.

    How will I be assessed?

    Unit 1 and 2 externally set and marked exams 

    Unit 3 and 4 assignments with summative assessment
