About the course
Functional Skills qualifications are designed to support you as you seek to improve your numeracy skills. Achieving a maths qualification should increase your confidence and motivation, and the skills gained will be valuable in the workplace or in any further learning.
You must be either:
A UK citizen or have ‘settled status’ (no restrictions on how long you can stay), and have been living in the UK for three years before starting the course.
A European Union (EU) citizen, or the spouse, civil partner or child of one, and have been living in the European Economic Area (EEA) for three years before starting the course.
The course is fully funded subject to eligibility criteria.
How much does it cost?
This course is free, subject to eligibility criteria.
The Level 1 qualification in Functional Skills maths provides a good basis for progression to Level 2 and GCSE; the Level 2 qualification for progression to GCSE.

This qualification is suitable for anyone who wishes to improve on their existing skills or progress their career.

You will develop and refine problem solving strategies, building the confidence and skills required to tackle unfamiliar challenges. You will gain mathematical skills that are transferable to everyday contexts and the world of work.
You will attend weekly classes where you will complete activities and exercises to support your learning.
