About the course

This course has been specifically designed to support and nurture you onto any of the level 3 Access to Higher Education programmes. Offering a wide range of study topics, this course will give you the opportunity to improve and develop the skills you will need to succeed at university and beyond. The course structure has been designed to give you the time and space to improve your writing, computer, and maths skills and is perfect for anyone who needs to retake their Maths and English GCSEs to achieve the C Grade required by most universities.


2 days a week 9.30am – 3.00pm

Entry requirements

Students must be 18 years or older. 

Please note: there is no upper age limit for this course.

Who is it suitable for?

This course is suitable for anyone who would like to progress onto any of our level 3 courses and then university but who currently lacks GCSE maths and English at grade C or above. 

How much does it cost?

No fees apply to this course. 

Why study?

This is an opportunity to prepare yourself for the Access to HE programme. It will build your confidence and allow you to recognise your strengths and weaknesses. There’s no upper age limit. Typically students will be 24+ we welcome all students but groups can comprise a wide range of ages. Many didn’t get the opportunity when they left school, others may not have considered themselves academic enough and some were just anxious to get out and start earning money. Mature students are valued for their life experiences, and an increasing number are entering higher education each year. A large number are now pursuing new careers and seeing changes in their lives that they never thought possible.

Where will this course take me?

Onto any of our level 3 courses (such as Nursing and Midwifery, Health and Social Care, Education, Business, Public Health Science, or Medicine) and beyond, into university.

  • Chart analysis
  • Use of software
  • Discussion
  • Exams

Will I have to provide anything?

You will need basic equipment such as pens, paper and a USB memory stick.
