This qualification will give you the knowledge and skills needed to work as qualified Teaching Assistant supporting children in primary, secondary or special schools. This qualification is ideal if you are interested in working as a teaching assistant or learning support assistant or are currently working in an unsupervised role that supports pupils' learning, including specialist roles. You will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement as you will need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
1 day per week for 18 months.
Studying at Harlow College plus work experience or volunteering in a school at least two days per week.
Preferably you will have GCSE English at grade C or above. However if you have commensurate life experience you may be able to study a GCSE English qualification alongside the course.
You must undertake and receive clearance for a compulsory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for suitability for working with children and young people.
This course is suitable for those who are currently working in a teaching support role and would like to gain a qualification and move to the next level.
