About the course

A Supported Internship is similar to a Traineeship or Apprenticeship but differs in several ways, adjusting to fit the personal needs of each of our students. Learners on a supported internship will be expected to have a higher level of support in the workplace from an Employability Coach, working alongside the staff and Intern in the workplace. Learners still have the opportunity to work towards completing their English and Maths qualifications as well as learning the necessary English and Maths skills for the workplace through a variety of activities and projects.

Why study?

Active learning
Our programmes run around a different projects, this will develop your skills working independently and working as part of a team.
Employability skills
Working on confidence and skills required for work.
Community
Projects based within the local community to develop inter personal skills, confidence and face-to-face communication.
Sport & wellbeing

Students will partake in overall fitness and wellbeing each week.

English/Maths & ICT
Skills will be developed through projects and the opportunity to take qualifications will be available.

You will also learn the importance of healthy eating and how to develop cooking skills.

Additional opportunities include:

  • Employment and enterprise workshops
  • Confidence building and team building activities
  • Work-related visits
  • Guest speakers from MIND and other supportive organisations within the SEN community

How will I be assessed?

RARPA Qualification (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement). This qualification is based on criteria linked to Preparing for Adulthood:
