    About the course

    The course provides the essential core of scientific knowledge and applied skills so that you will be able to progress to a Level 3 Applied Science qualification. This in turn will enable you to progress within a wide choice of Science-based allied career pathways, apprenticeships and/or employment.

    4 GCSEs at grade 3

    Who is it suitable for?

    Learners who do not hold the 5 GCSE passes including Science, English and Maths that would enable them to be accepted on the Level 3 course.

    Why study?

    The Extended Certificate is made up of 12 units: 8 mandatory units and 4 optional units.
    You will be learning a mixture of practical laboratory work together with theoretical scientific knowledge.

    Applications for courses starting in September must be completed by Friday 30th June. Applications received after this date will go through our late interview and enrolment process. This may delay your course start date.

    Funding Your Course

    If you're aged 19 or over and you want to study A Levels, an Access to Higher Education Diploma, or a Level 3 to 6 Vocational Qualification, you could be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan.
