    About the course

    This course will give students the potential opportunity to progress to employment or progress within employment in a wide range of job roles across the business sector and digital industries, for example in roles such as business administrator, finance assistant, HR assistant and marketing assistant and a lot more.

    BTEC Level Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Business

    Entry requirements

    4 GCSEs grades 2 - 3 or equivalent and minimum Level 1 in Maths and English.

    How much does it cost?

    Age 16-18 free. 19+ will require an employer's contribution. There is a range of financial support that you may be entitled to, including: Learner Support funds, grants and bursaries and employer support. £90 per year to cover cost of educational visits, guest speakers and workshops, plus your own equipment and textbook.

    Why study?

    Unit 1 will provide learners with the opportunity to gain broad knowledge and understanding of, and develop skills in, the business sector. Unit 2 and 9 will develop knowledge and skills in finance and marketing.

    ‘Business’ units – These units have an emphasis on ‘fundamentals of business’ to create/develop skills and knowledge within the broadest sense of the business environment. 

    ‘Developmental’ units – These units focus on ‘mini-projects’ within the context of retail, promotion and selling products.

    How will I be assessed?

    Units 2 & 9 are external exams and the rest of the units are assessed by coursework.

    Will I have to provide anything?

    £100 for consumables  including books and cost of exam re-takes.Recommended course text as per your interview, enrolment information to follow.

    Applications for courses starting in September must be completed by Friday 30th June. Applications received after this date will go through our late interview and enrolment process. This may delay your course start date.

    Funding Your Course

    If you're aged 19 or over and you want to study A Levels, an Access to Higher Education Diploma, or a Level 3 to 6 Vocational Qualification, you could be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan.
