    About the course

    You will gain basic skills and knowledge required to progress in the childcare and health & social care professions. You will also gain practical experience within childcare and health & social care environments.

    Entry requirements

    No entry requirements but work experience with children or in a health & social care environment would be an advantage.

    How much does it cost?

    Free to those aged 16-18. If you are aged 19+ you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

    There is a range of financial support that you may be entitled to, including: Learner Support funds, grants and bursaries and employer support.

    Why study?

    You will do 30 hours practical experience in a childcare and health & social care environment. There are no exams. Most units are assessed through written work.

    Where will this course take me?

    Further areas of study. Employment as a care assistant or playworker.

    There will be a charge of £50 for a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.

    Applications for courses starting in September must be completed by Friday 30th June. Applications received after this date will go through our late interview and enrolment process. This may delay your course start date.

    Funding Your Course

    If you're aged 19 or over and you want to study A Levels, an Access to Higher Education Diploma, or a Level 3 to 6 Vocational Qualification, you could be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan.
