    About the course

    This course will give you the skills and knowledge you need to provide basic shampoo and condition, styling men's and women's hair, plaiting and twisting, the art of dressing hair, salon reception duties, hair make-up, manicure and pedicure treatments. You will gain an insight into working in the sector and knowledge of the health, safety and hygiene requirements.

    How will I be assessed?

    You will have a mixture of practical sessions in the salon and classroom-based lessons teaching underpinning knowledge. You will be expected to complete hairdressing/beauty/barbering services on paying clients in the commercial salon.

    It is expected that you may need to bring in your own clients for practical assessments. Educational trips will also be available to enhance learning.

    • Assignments

    Applications for courses starting in September must be completed by Friday 30th June. Applications received after this date will go through our late interview and enrolment process. This may delay your course start date.

    Funding Your Course

    If you're aged 19 or over and you want to study A Levels, an Access to Higher Education Diploma, or a Level 3 to 6 Vocational Qualification, you could be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan.
