Funding Your Course

If you're aged 19 or over and you want to study A Levels, an Access to Higher Education Diploma, or a Level 3 to 6 Vocational Qualification, you could be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan.

    About the course

    This one year course is designed to provide a broad educational basis for further training, further education or for moving into employment within the health and social care sector. It offers 60 hours of work experience linked to students' specific area of interest.

    Entry requirements

    4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above one of these must be either Maths or English Language. Those who have not attained all of the above may be eligible if they have achieved a Level 2 diploma in Health and Social Sare to at least a Merit.

    You will be invited to attend an interview and will need to complete a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) form at the beginning of the course.

    How much does it cost?

    Free to those aged 16-18. If you are aged 19+ you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

    There is a range of financial support that you may be entitled to, including: Learner Support funds, grants and bursaries and employer support.

    Why study?

    This course offers the first steps into your chosen career in health and social care and is an important stepping stone towards university entrance or employment. Health and social care is a growth sector and there is a need for more staff to care for those in our society who are unwell or vulnerable. There is also a need for highly trained personnel to care for our aging population.

    Where will this course take me?

    Further study study at Level 3 Foundation Diploma. Some students will seek employment.
