About the course
This course has been designed for anyone who wants to work in social media. You will develop the video and technical skills required to shoot and edit your own interactive content. You will learn about branding, develop new and original content, and explore ways to make money from your material. You may choose to develop your own profile as an original content producer, or work for any number of companies where the value of good social media skills has never been in such high demand. Those who complete this course can expect to graduate onto any one of our UAL Level 3 programmes.
Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology
4 GCSE grades at 2 – 3 or equivalent and a minimum Level 1 diagnostic in Maths and English.

Anyone looking to start a career in social media, either working for a company or independently creating their own content.

You will learn how to create shoot and edit your own video and audio content, you will explore what can be achieved using a variety of different social media platforms, and create a range of content designed to test their creativity. Working within a series of genre you will be given freedom to choose what content you create. You will experience what it is like to work for a large company as well as an independent content creator.

The units have been designed to replicate the working environment in order to prepare students for employment once they graduate. Students will be given scenarios to work within based on jobs and tasks they might be required to complete in the workplace.
How will I be assessed?
Classes are taught though face-to-face in a classroom setting in one of our mac suites. Students will have access to social media hardware, including the most up-to-date video and editing software, as well as smartphone ready mics, grips and lighting rigs. Student will receive 1-2-1 tutorials to help nurture and develop their work. Students will engage in independent and group work.
Will I have to provide anything?
You will require a notebook, pens, pencils, and a smartphone. All other material, including computers, editing software, cameras, lighting, mics etc is provided by the department.
