    About the course

    This course will equip you with the skills, knowledge and understanding to begin to explore career opportunities within the sports and leisure industry. It will provide the skills and knowledge necessary to plan, deliver and evaluate safe and effective sport and leisure activities. You will gain a qualification to enable you to progress onto a level 2 programme as well as developing skills which can be used in all forms of employment.

    You must have a keen interest in the subject and the commitment to succeed. Your entry requirements will be discussed at interview.

    How much does it cost?

    Free to those aged 16-18. If you are aged 19+ you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

    There is a range of financial support that you may be entitled to, including: Learner Support funds, grants and bursaries and employer support.

    Why study?

    The course has been designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge required to progress to vocational study, in any sector. It offers an opportunity to develop essential learning skills along with vocational units from a range of sectors. This will enable you to develop a firm foundation for successful progression to Level 2 vocational qualifications. You will also study maths and English as part of your study programme.

    Where will this course take me?

    You could progress to employment in the Sport and Active Leisure sector or progress to general work-related qualifications.

    How will I be assessed?

    Practical assessment and written coursework.

    Will I have to provide anything?

    Paper, pens, a folder, memory stick, A4 lined note pad, A4 lever arch file. There will be a contribution to pay in both years to cover various costs of kit and trips.

    Funding Your Course

    If you're aged 19 or over and you want to study A Levels, an Access to Higher Education Diploma, or a Level 3 to 6 Vocational Qualification, you could be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan.
