    This course is designed to engage and motivate students who are interested in learning about the maintenance of motor vehicles and the various roles that are available in the retail motor industry.

    Entry requirements

    Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair will need to be completed and a Pass achieved. English and Maths qualifications are included in this course.

    How much does it cost?

    Free to those aged 16-18. If you are aged 19+ you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

    There is a range of financial support that you may be entitled to, including: Learner Support funds, grants and bursaries and employer support.

    You will be expected to pay for stationery and textbooks. There is a £60 charge for materials and locker fee.

    You will have an opportunity to consolidate your knowledge of the motor vehicle and its sub-systems.The practical assignments will allow you to practice and experience the fault diagnosis and repair activities associated with the repair of light vehicles.

    • Support for Job Roles in the Automotive Environment
    • Diagnosis and Rectification of Vehicle Auxiliary Electrical Faults
    • Diagnosis and Rectification of Light Vehicle Engine Faults
    • Diagnosis and Rectification of Light Vehicle Chassis System Faults
    • Diagnosis and Rectification of Light Vehicle Transmission and Driveline Faults

    Optional modules

    Approximately 15 optional modules

    How will I be assessed?

    The qualification has a practical approach to assessment and includes many visual questioning techniques, which will stimulate and interest the learner. The learning outcomes are assessed by a variety of task based assessment, observation, oral questioning and online assessments.

    Will I have to provide anything?

    Personal protective clothing (boots, one-piece overalls), pens and pencils, folder, course book. £60 materials and locker fee.
