About the course

This course has been designed for anyone who has a passion for TV. Written by an Emmy award-winning TV producer, whose credits include shows such as Big Brother, Don’t Tell the Bride, Dating in the Dark, and the Wright Stuff (to name but a few), the course includes all of the key skills that you will need to get into the industry. Whilst on the course you will learn presenting skills, how to pitch new programme ideas, programme development, camera and editing skills, studio work, and of course, shooting and directing your own chat shows, documentaries and reality TV shows.

Entry requirements

Diploma – 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including grade 4 in English Language or Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media at Pass or above.

Extended Diploma – 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including grade 4 or above in English Language, or Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media at Merit or above.

How much does it cost?

Courses are free to 16-18 year olds. Reduced fees may be available for 19+ learners.

Charge of £100 for the 1 year programme, or £200 for the 2 year programme. The fee covers the cost of media equipment, the green screen studio, radio suite, Mac editing software, cameras and sound equipment, and exhibitions.

Core modules

The units focus on skills, knowledge and understanding that support all creative media production and technology activity. The units have been designed to allow colleges to deliver them in a way that meets the specific needs of their students, taking into account the college resources, relationships with local creative employers and responding to the fast-paced nature of the creative industries.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed via a final major project which takes place at the end of the course. This is a extended project, which gives you’re the freedom to do whatever you want and demonstrate the skills that you have acquired throughout the course. This unit is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction.
