GCSE English

Many employers expect a Grade 4 in GCSE English. This course helps you improve your communication, reading and writing skills while gaining a valuable qualification. You’ll study non-fiction texts, speaking and listening, creative writing and literacy skills. Achieving GCSE English can lead to further study, including Higher Education, and improve your career and employment opportunities.

GCSE Maths

A Grade 4 in GCSE Maths can help you access employment, further study and career progression. You’ll develop confidence in essential maths through topics including number, algebra, ratio, geometry, probability and statistics, with a focus on practical, real-life applications. Successful completion can support progression to a range of Harlow College and Higher Education courses, and improve your career and employment opportunities.

Functional Skills English

Functional Skills English qualifications are designed to help you improve your literacy skills and develop the confidence to use English effectively in everyday life, work and further study.

The course will support you to build practical English skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening and communication. You will explore relevant, real-life scenarios and develop the skills needed to communicate clearly, understand information, and respond confidently to unfamiliar situations.

This course is suitable for adults who already have a good foundation of English skills and would like to develop them further.

Functional Skills Maths

Functional Skills Maths qualifications are designed to help you improve your numeracy skills and develop the confidence to use maths in everyday life, work and further study.
Achieving a maths qualification can increase your confidence and motivation, while supporting progression in employment, further learning or career development.

This course is suitable for adults who already have a good foundation of Maths skills and would like to develop them further.

ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)

ESOL is all about integration and inclusivity. You will have the opportunity to make new friends and will be part of a welcoming and diverse community. It will develop your language and communication skills as well as increase your confidence in speaking, writing and reading English.

ESOL courses are available full-time for learners aged 16 to 18, and part-time for adults aged 19 and over.
