About the course

Using a wide variety of teaching and learning styles, including teacher input, discussions and activities, you'll have a chance to study the politics of the UK, political theory and comparative politics. The course will enable you to develop an understanding of the local, national, international and global dimensions of political activity.

Students benefit from a trip to Parliament, The Supreme Court and attend conferences and lecturers by guest speakers.

Entry requirements

A minimum score of 5 from 7 GCSEs to include English, Maths, and science along with four other GCSE grades or equivalent.

English Language or Literature must be 5 or above

Free to those aged 16-18

There is a range of financial support that you may be entitled to, including: Learner Support funds, grants and bursaries and employer support.

You will be expected to pay for stationery and textbooks.

Why study?

The A level programme in Government and Politics will help develop a critical awareness of the nature of politics and the relationship between political ideas, institutions and processes. You will gain an understanding of the structures of authority and power within the UK's political system and how these may differ from those of other political systems.
