About the course

This course is designed to take advantage of the growing number of jobs in PR. The course relies heavily on the use of smartphone and digital technology as you develop your communication skills to generate media campaigns, press kits, and social media content. You will learn a range of skills including how to rebrand products, write press releases, shoot media campaign videos, manage public perception, develop advertising campaigns, generate original content ideas, work with clients and crisis manage situations. So, if you want to work in a job where you get to travel, and meet interesting people, work with a range of exciting clients, including household brands, political parties, production companies, and celebrities, and influence the public then this is the course for you.

Qualification

Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology

Entry requirements

Diploma – 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including grade 4 in Maths or in English Language or Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media at Pass or above.

Extended Diploma – successful completion of Diploma in Year 1

Why study?

You will develop your communication skills to generate media campaigns, press kits, and social media content. You will learn a range of skills including how to rebrand products, write press releases, shoot media campaign videos, manage public perception, develop advertising campaigns, generate original content ideas, work with clients and crisis manage situations. Classrooms have been set up to reflect the working environment. Classwork will reflect real life scenarios you might encounter in the workplace. This will allow you to experience what it is like to be working in the industry.  

Classes are taught though face-to-face in a classroom setting in one of our mac suites. You will have access to a range of hardware, including the most up-to-date video and editing software, as well as cameras, the full Adobe suite, smartphone ready mics, grips and lighting rigs. You will also have access to the department's green screen studio and radio suite. You will receive 1-2-1 tutorials to help nurture and develop your work. You will engage in independent and group work.

Where will this course take me?

Those who complete this course can expect to graduate onto university, the UAL level 4 course in Business Enterprise, or the NCTJ Diploma in News or Magazine Journalism.

You will need a notebook, pens, pencils. All other material, including computers, editing software, cameras, lighting, mics etc is provided by the department.
