Free Taster HTQ Courses

Harlow College has launched an exciting new programme of FREE HTQ taster courses – giving you the chance to study up to two modules at no cost.

Thanks to the Government’s Module Acceleration Programme (MAP), your tuition fees are covered by a grant, so you won’t pay a penny. Whether you're keen to take your learning to the next level without leaving home, want to boost your career, or just explore a new direction – this is the perfect place to start.

Our HTQs have been developed with employers to ensure our students are receiving the most relevant skills and knowledge they need to progress in their career after graduation.

Why give a HTQ Taster Course a go?

• Introduction to Engineering
• Introduction to Computing (Cyber Security)
• Introduction to Leadership and Management

What will I achieve at the end of this programme?

You will achieve up to 30 credits towards a Higher Technical Qualification, if you take two units

What do I do after the programme has finished?

With the Module Acceleration Programme (MAP), you can study standalone HTQ modules without committing to the full course. Even if you don’t complete the full qualification, you’ll gain valuable skills and receive a certificate for each module you complete. And if you enjoy the two modules, you can choose to continue your studies and work towards a full Higher Technical Qualification.

When does it start?

The programme begins in September 2025. You will study 1 or 2 modules which should take you approximately 3 months

Who can apply?

Anyone who is looking to progress their studies, upskill in their current job role or retrain can apply if they are:

• are aged between 19 and 60
• Live in England, or live outside of England but work in England
