Applied Science

This is the course for someone who loves 'hands on' Science. It combines in-depth study of Biology, Chemistry and Physics, whilst developing core skills in English and Mathematics. You will spend most of your college time in laboratories, carrying out a variety of practical scientific investigations. It is an appropriate course for anyone wishing to pursue a career in any of the science industries and for those who wish to study Science at university. The course lasts for two years and the Extended Diploma is equivalent to three A Levels in Science.

Applied Science BTEC Extended Certificate

The course provides the essential core of scientific knowledge and applied skills so that you will be able to progress to a Level 3 Applied Science qualification. Childcare & Education Diploma

This course will give you extensive knowledge of the development of babies and young children. You will gain an understanding of the stages and sequences of brain development, physical development and social skills. Most significantly, you will gain professional status enabling you to work with children or progress to university for an Early Years Degree,Teaching Degree or a Degree in Childhood Studies. CISCO Introduction to Networks

This course introduces you to the architecture, structure, functions, components and models of the Internet and other computer networks. It covers the principles and structure of IP addressing and the fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations. CISCO Routing and Switching Essentials

This course provides for delegates an understanding of the architecture, components and operations of routers and switches in a small network. It develops skills related to configuring a router and a switch for basic functionality. On successful completion you will be able to configure and troubleshoot routers and switches and resolve common issues with RIPv1, RIPng, single-area and multi-area OSPF, virtual LANs, and inter-VLAN routing in both IPv4. 

Computer Game Design Level 2

Connecting Networks

This course covers the WAN technologies and network services required by converged applications in a complex network. It enables delegates to understand the selection criteria of network devices and WAN technologies to meet network requirements. They will learn how to configure and troubleshoot network devices and resolve common issues with data link protocols. They will also develop the knowledge and skills needed to implement Virtual Private Network (VPN) operations in a complex network.

Scaling Networks

This course develops an understanding of the architecture, components and operations of routers and switches in large, complex networks. You will develop understanding and skills required to configure routers and switches for advanced functionality. Successful completion would enable you to configure and troubleshoot routers and switches and resolve common issues with OSPF, EIGRP, and STP in both IPv4 and IPv6 networks. You will also develop the knowledge and skills needed to implement a WLAN in a small-to-medium network. 

Site Carpentry Diploma

This level 2 programme will enable you to develop and hone your skills in site carpentry and will enable you to experience all aspects of the craft both on and off the job. Upon successful completion of your course you will hold all qualifications to the expected industrial standard. You will also gain the opportunity to progress onto an advanced apprenticeship in site carpentry.

Site Carpentry Diploma (EWPA)

If you're are an experienced, time-served carpenter but have no confirming qualifications, this course is a quick route to NVQ level 2. It will also help you get the right CSCS card.

Sport & Exercise Sciences Extended Diploma

This course is ideal if you are interested in the sport and leisure industry and enjoy sport and physical activity with an opportunity of specialising in sports at university.

Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools

This qualification will give you the knowledge and skills needed to work as qualified Teaching Assistant supporting children in primary, secondary or special schools. This qualification is ideal if you are interested in working as a teaching assistant or learning support assistant or are currently working in an unsupervised role that supports pupils' learning, including specialist roles. You will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement as you will need to show competence in both knowledge and skills. Technical & Creative Technology Diploma

You'll learn the skills to produce IT systems and software, websites and mobile apps, and video, graphics and animation.This  programme specialises in wide-ranging subjects across computer systems, hardware and software. IT is an ever-changing industry full of possibilities and this course will build your skills and understanding preparing you for further study.

Vocational Courses

This course is designed as a practical work-related course. You will be required to come into the College for taught theory sessions. An assessor will visit you in the workplace to observe practical activities. You will need to be working in an environment which will enable you collect the required evidence. Tasks undertaken by apprentices will vary depending on the level and sector in which they are employed. Tasks may include producing documents, preparing notes, organising and co-ordinating events and meetings, developing and delivering presentations, providing reception services, using office equipment, setting up and maintaining filing systems, using a variety of software packages, updating information and managing projects.
