Automation & Controls Engineering Technician Apprenticeship

Automation and Controls engineering technicians typically will be part of a multi-disciplinary team for example as a member or leader of a project team, maintenance team, service team that will work alongside other stakeholders for example design, production or coordination that interfaces with internal and external customers alike.  Monitoring of the operation of these systems can be carried out either within in-situ control rooms/offices or remotely via web based/GPRS based mobile communications.

Engineering Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship

This course provides an extensive knowledge and skills in engineering with specialist units available in Advanced Manufacturing and Automated Systems. You will be studying in the new (£11m) state-of-the-art Harlow Advanced Manufacturing Centre (HAMEC) equipped with over £2m worth of industry standard machinery and equipment. We work closely with industry to ensure our courses meet the requirements of employers.

Apprenticeships are offered at Advanced and Higher level. Each level is designed to enable you to gain technical knowledge and real practical experience, along with functional and interpersonal skills. You'll learn these through a mix of learning in the workplace, formal off the job training and the opportunity to practice and embed new skills in a real work situation.

This Apprenticeship is ideal for those looking to become Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technicians (Heavy Vehicle) capable of servicing and repairing heavy goods vehicles and vehicles with a gross weight of over 3500kg. It is suitable for those working in either a dealership for a manufacturer or for an independent garage that deals with many different makes of vehicles.

Lead Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship

Lead maintenance engineering technicians typically perform a multi-disciplinary role, managing or leading other technicians. They may specialise in areas such as mechanical, electronic, or electrical engineering. Employers range from small to large businesses who deliver or require maintenance support. Typical workplaces include private and public sector manufacturing factories. Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Apprenticeship

The Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Apprenticeship addresses a wide range of skills essential for working in the industry. General course core units (knowledge & skills and competence) include: health and safety in the motor industry, roles and responsibilities, workshop tools and equipment.
Technical units include: routine maintenance, engines, lubrication and cooling, fuel, ignition and air and exhaust, skills in engine units and components, electrical units, chassis systems, transmission system, inspecting using prescribed methods.
