About the course

ESOL is all about integration and inclusivity. You will have the opportunity to make new friends and will be part of a welcoming and diverse community. It will develop your language and communication skills as well as increase your confidence in speaking, writing and reading English. 

This course is broken down into 3 sections:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Speaking and Listening

You can choose to study one, two or all three sections. 

Entry requirements

This course is for adults aged 19 and over.

It is suitable for those who speak English as a second or other language and who are at beginners’ level.

We also offer a full-time ESOL programme for learners aged 16 to 18. This course is two to three days a week at Harlow College. Click here to view this course

How much does it cost?

You can study 1, 2 or all 3 parts of this ESOL course:

£150 Reading

£150 Writing 

£300 Speaking and Listening 

This course is free if:

  • You earn less than 
  • You are unemployed and in receipt of benefits

This course is for adults aged 19 and over who would like to develop their English speaking, reading, writing and listening skills.

Why study?

Your study programme will also include maths which can develop your skills and prepare you for employment or for progressing onto another course at a higher level. 

You are also part of a greater community and will take part in enrichment activities that enable you to build life skills and strong friendships. 

You can enrol throughout the year and will be entered for nationally recognised assessments when you are ready.

Your classes will be in the daytime either at our Bright Futures Training Centre in Harlow Town Centre or at Harlow College. Classes are currently one full day 9.30am – 4pm, one day a week.
