In today's tough job market more and more employers expect candidates to have at least a grade 4 in GCSE English. This course will suit those already working and those still seeking employment. It's a perfect opportunity to brush up on the essential skills required by employers, and gain a qualification in the process.

ESOL is all about integration and inclusivity. You will have the opportunity to make new friends and will be part of a welcoming and diverse community. It will develop your language and communication skills as well as increase your confidence in speaking, writing and reading English. 

This course is broken down into 3 sections:

• Reading
• Writing
• Speaking and Listening

You can choose to study one, two or all three sections. 

The initial assessment date for this course is Tuesday 16 April

Essential Digital Skills qualifications will help you to develop your digital skills for life, work or for use in further study. The qualifications designed for adults are based on the national standards and include:

• Using devices and handling information
• Creating and editing
• Communicating online
• Transacting (buying) online activities
• Being responsible, safe and legal online

Your course start date will depend on what level you are enrolled onto. You will complete an online initial assessment at Bright Futures Training Centre to identify the appropriate level for you. Upon completing your assessment, a tutor will review your results and discuss the appropriate course level for you to enrol on.

Functional Skills qualifications are designed to support you as you seek to improve your literacy skills and provide you with the fundamental knowledge required for everyday life. Achieving an English qualification will increase your confidence and motivation and the skills gained will aid you in the workplace or any further learning.

A grade 4 in Maths is essential if you are looking for work or looking to progress your career. With the rising cost of living and the resulting reduction of disposable income, it is becoming more and more important to understand basic budgeting skills. In these workshops you will develop and practice skills such as planning your money, income, taxation and benefits, expenditure and budgeting, debt and borrowing and savings and investments. These real-life maths sessions should help you to build confidence and skills that can be applied in everyday situations.

Motivated to develop your numeracy skills but not sure where to start? Our Numeracy Workshop is designed to help you understand what your numeracy strengths and weaknesses are and what your next steps could be. Within this 2-hour session you will complete a computer-based assessment of your numeracy skills and take away a plan for the development of your skills including resources and worksheets to support you. You will also receive further information on what courses and qualifications are available to you to continue your skills development.
