We offer three Teacher Training courses, at Levels 3, 4 and 5, that will prepare you with everything you need to start work in a full teaching/training role as well as achieving a professional qualification.

Teacher Training Courses – Levels Explained

The Level 3 Award is perfect for trainers seeking a recognised qualification and for those interested in teaching in further education. This 15 week course aims to develop knowledge, skills and confidence in the delivery of training sessions to groups. 

The Level 4 Certificate will enable you to learn and apply the practical and theoretical aspects of planning, teaching/training and assessing in Further and Adult Education or the private or public sector. 

The Level 5 Diploma is suitable if you already work as a teacher, trainer or instructor in the private or public sector or Further and Adult Education, and can lead to the achievement of QTLS, (Qualified Teacher Learning & Skills).

About our TAQA Courses

TAQA (Training, Assessment Quality and Assurance) courses are available at Levels 3 and 4, and are ideal for individuals looking to enter roles in vocational and occupational assessment. They provide the opportunity for learners to develop and improve their practice as well as achieving a professional qualification. 

The Level 3 offers both Awards and Certificates, depending on the chosen path and includes a mandatory knowledge unit which is delivered in person over 4 consecutive weeks and then any chosen additional units are assessed practically in the classroom and/or workplace, depending on the chosen units. Each is a qualification in its own right and units can be added to build on the Awards, if required, in the future.

About the course

The Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance is a comprehensive qualification designed for practitioners who want to progress into leading and coordinating quality assurance processes within their organisation. Building on the knowledge developed in earlier TAQA qualifications, this course extends your understanding to a strategic level, focusing on managing, supporting, and improving assessment practice across teams.

This three‑unit qualification is ideal for individuals who are responsible for, or moving into roles that involve:

  • Planning and implementing internal quality assurance strategies
  • Monitoring assessor performance and sampling assessment decisions
  • Supporting and guiding assessors to maintain high‑quality practice
  • Ensuring assessment processes meet organisational and regulatory standards
  • Professional discussion
  • Observation in the classroom

Entry requirements

Applicants must hold GCSE English and maths at grade 4 or above, or an equivalent Level 2 Functional Skills qualification. You must also be currently employed in an IQA role to provide the necessary evidence for the programme.

Who is it suitable for?

Our Level 4 TAQA qualification is designed for teachers, trainers and vocational experts who want to develop the skills and confidence to internally quality assure in their specialist subject area.

Core modules

  • Understand the context and principles of internal quality assurance 
  • Understand how to plan the IQA of assessment 
  • Understand the techniques and criteria for monitoring the quality of assessment internally
  • Understand how to internally maintain and improve the quality of assessment 
  • Understand how to manage information relevant to the IQA of assessment
  • Understand legal and good practice requirements for the IQA of assessment  

How will I be assessed?

Written responses to an assignment will be captured in an e portfolio system, which also provide online assessment decisions and feedback. A professional discussion will also be required.  A CPD record and reflective journal will need to be completed.
