Online Accolade for Harlow College

Harlow College scooped the Best Website/Social Media award at the recent Heart 4 Harlow Community and Business Awards, held at the Manor of Groves Hotel on Thursday 8 October.

The College saw off competition from Attwaters Jameson Hill and CM Connection Magazines to land the prestigious glass trophy.

Simon Boyce, Head of Marketing at the College, said: "We are so pleased to receive this award. Social Media plays such an important part in the way Harlow College communicates with its audience. The diversity it provides enables us to give a real insight into our vibrant campus life as well as providing a quick and efficient channel for us to respond to students' needs."

Harlow College also sponsored the Young Person of the Year award, which was won by Georgia Wilson, a current Level 3 Business Administration Apprentice, who is currently working for Young Concern Trust based in Harlow. These awards celebrate the spirit of Harlow and for the first time was held in conjunction with Harlow & District Chamber of Commerce.

Town chaplain Robert Findlay organised the event and hosted the ceremony, saying the biggest ever awards were a testament to an "exciting time" for Harlow.

"We're celebrating because Harlow has had many blessings in recent months," he said. "One of the best blessings to come to our town in recent months is Public Health England. This follows the exciting developments at the Harlow Enterprise Zone."

He added: "The hope now is for more houses in the town, but right now we are joining in our celebration for the progress taking place."

Over 350 people packed into the plush hotel surroundings to see the honours presented to groups and individuals across four categories comprising civic and community activities, good neighbours, charity and education, sport and art.

The winners were chosen by a selection committee in advance of the awards, and were then presented with a glass trophy.
