Harlow College Business students Lewis and Dylan have raised £700 for Centrepoint, the UK charity supporting homeless young people, after planning and delivering a fundraising event as part of their Level 3 Business – Events Management course.

To support their fundraising, the pair produced a selection of handmade sweets and, after securing a prime spot at Stansted Airport, were able to tempt passing workers.

Including Gift Aid, their project raised £700, delivering a strong outcome for both the charity and their coursework.

They independently managed all aspects of the event, including budgeting, risk assessments, marketing and on-the-day operations—building real experience in teamwork, communication and problem‑solving.

Tom Graham, Assistant Academy Manager for Business, said: “Students were able to apply their classroom learning in a real-world environment. They showed professionalism, creativity and commitment, and should be very proud of what they achieved.”

Dylan explained their motivation: “Centrepoint supports homeless young people aged 16 to 25, and because they’re our age, it feels especially important to help them.”

Lewis added: “To raise the money, we made and sold homemade sweet cones. These actually proved to be really popular because people liked that they were homemade.”
