About Finding an Employer

You MUST have an employer before you can start an apprenticeship. You can search for an apprenticeship job here.

If you don't yet have an employer you can still apply for an apprenticeship while you continue to look. We can offer you advice on how to successfully secure an apprenticeship with an employer.

Duration

18 Months – 1 day a week at College and 4 days a week at work

Overview

Business administrators have a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours that can be applied in all sectors. This includes small and large businesses alike; from the public, private and charitable sectors. The role may involve working independently or as part of a team and will involve developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services. Business administrators develop key skills and behaviours to support their own progression towards management responsibilities.

Am I ready to start?

Minimum 4 GCSEs at grades 3-9 including maths and English. Interview and reference. Employers may also set their own additional entry requirements.

What does the course involve?

Business administrators will be required to demonstrate knowledge, skills and behaviours across a number of key areas. These include:

  • IT
  • Communications
  • Planning and Organisation
  • Project Management
  • Business Fundamentals
  • External Environment Factors
  • Relevant Regulation and Policies

Apprenticeship Standards are assessed through independent end point assessors. Your role as an apprentice may vary depending on your employer. Learners that have not yet achieved a minimum of grade 4 or C in GCSE English or Maths will be required to complete a Level 2 functional skill qualification prior to taking the end point assessment.

We currently work closely with a number of companies such as London Stansted Airport, Flightworx, National Express, Amalga, Hampton by Hilton, Universal Aviation, Swissport and many more.

Down to business, what can I do and what can I earn?

The administration role may be a gateway to further career opportunities, such as management or senior support roles. You may also progress to an HNC/D in Business.

Stansted Airport and its business partners offer many exciting career opportunities and this qualification will enable you to secure a role across a number of specialist areas within the Business sector. With further study and experience you could be working as a Business Development Executive, Corporate Affairs and Communications Officer or an Office Supervisor just to mention a few. The possibilities are vast and this qualification will help you launch your career.
