About the course
This course has been created to give learners a clear insight into working within the Prison Service. There are a wide range of career opportunities available, from Prison Officer roles to positions in administration, cleaning and hospitality.
Alongside developing valuable transferable skills, learners will benefit from a careers talk delivered by HM Prison and Probation Service and take part in a supported application workshop at the end of the course. The Prison Service will provide guidance and support throughout the programme.
Qualifications Included
NCFE Entry Level Award in Employability Skills (Entry 3)
This qualification helps learners develop the skills needed for the workplace, building confidence and communication skills to prepare for employment or a career change. Topics include ICT and developing a positive career mindset.
Gateway Qualifications Level 1 Award in Progression
This qualification develops learners’ understanding of the negative effects of drug and alcohol misuse.
NCFE CACHE Level 1 Award in Mental Health Awareness
This qualification builds awareness of mental health and its impact on individuals and wider society.
This is a fully virtual course, delivered live online by a tutor. Sessions take place via Microsoft Teams, allowing you to join from the comfort of your own home. During the pre-screen day, you will receive an induction to Microsoft Teams and Showbie to ensure you feel confident accessing and participating in your lessons.
Entry requirements
No formal qualifications are required, however all learners must complete an initial assessment in English and Maths to determine their current skill level.
Applicants must hold a valid National Insurance number.
You must have been a resident in the UK for the past three years, or be able to provide evidence of your legal right to access education in the UK.
