College Fashion Student Dresses to Impress

A Harlow College fashion student is on her way to the top after a collection she designed was selected by a London fashion house.

Lolabelle Layzell, 17, from Hatfield Heath, who is studying Level 3 Fashion, was having just another Friday at her work experience placement with M Theory London, at their Harlow Offices when she was handed a brief to design a new range. Her designs – two dresses and a jumpsuit – were instantly approved by the company and by Monday all the garments were complete.

Things were about to get even better for Lolabelle, as she was asked to be the face of the campaign and later that week found herself having a dress fitting and out on location for a photoshoot.

Taking the photos was another Harlow College student, Connor Holland, 19, from Bishops Stortford, currently studying Level 3 Photography, who has had a work placement with M Theory and has gained invaluable experience by going on live shoots with them.

After her crazy week in the whirlwind world of fashion, Lolabelle spoke about her experiences: “It feels incredible that my designs have actually been made up and that my name is on the collection. It’s all come about so quickly. In fashion, everything happens really fast, so you just have to think on your feet and deal with everything that comes your way.

Sitting here now at the photo shoot, in my dress that I designed, feels amazing. I want this feeling for the rest of my life!”

The co-founder of M Theory London, Mary Faulks, said: “Lolabelle has been super enthusiastic and has an immense passion for fashion. For a young lady of 17 her level of sophistication and maturity is outstanding.” T

The collection is called ‘Lolabelle for M Theory’ and is available to order at mtheorylondon.com
