About the course
This course is designed to provide learners with the essential skills, knowledge, and practical experience needed to start a career in the construction industry. Covering key areas such as health and safety, interpreting drawings, setting out, and a wide range of bricklaying techniques, the course combines classroom-based theory with hands-on training in realistic workshop settings. Learners will develop the ability to construct walls, arches, and other brickwork structures to industry standards, while also gaining an understanding of the wider construction environment. This qualification is ideal for those seeking to enter the trade, progress onto higher levels of study, or secure employment within the building and construction sector.
Entry requirements
Successful Completion of Level 1 Diploma in Bricklaying.
How much does it cost?
Free to 16-18 year olds. Reduced fees may be available for 19+ learners.

Those looking to enter the construction industry or move on to an apprenticeship.

Why study?
Learners will gain hands-on experience in setting out and building basic and decorative brickwork, constructing walls of varying thicknesses, creating corners and junctions, forming openings for doors and windows, and producing simple arches.
Each year we try to organise at least one site visit.
Each year we try to arrange at least one masterclass from an influential bricklayer from industry.

How will I be assessed?
Externally Set and Externally marked online theory assessments.
Externally set internally marked practical assessments.
Where will this course take me?
Progress onto the Level 3 in Brickwork or an Apprenticeship, with the ultimate aim of a career in the building industry.
There are excellent progression routes to apprenticeships with a large number of our full-time students moving onto apprenticeships during their course based on our recommendations.
