    About the course

    This course will provide you with a good knowledge of the development of babies and young children. You will gain an understanding of the stages and sequences of brain development, physical development and social skills. There is an opportunity to progress onto Level 3, (with the relevant GCSE's) or work as a qualified level 2 practitioner.

    4 GCSEs at Grades 2-4 English language grade must be Grade 3 or above

    Why study?

    You will complete planned observations of a children on placement, observing their growth and development. You will plan and prepare a nursery environment, indoor and outdoor on placement. You will also prepare a child friendly environment within the real working environment. You will lead play activities within placement and work in partnership with setting practitioners.

    Course Statistics:

    • 80% of students were employed within 3 months of completing their course at HC
    • 20% of students are employed as bank staff whilst they are completing their training and go on to work for these nurseries full time on completion of their training.
    • Students who achieve English and maths at a grade 4 or above during their level 2 studies move on to a level 3 programme of study
    • Employers actively recruit our students when they are on placement and through our employer afternoon

    Funding Your Course

    If you're aged 19 or over and you want to study an Access to Higher Education Diploma, or a Level 3 to 6 Vocational Qualification, you could be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan.
